I don't think so.

Women are becoming increasingly miserable? I don't think so. I'm a woman and I have my accounts on many Social Sites. My life is not miserable. In fact, I'm a happy woman. For the first place, social site is a place where you can make a profile and connect with old and new friends. Being miserable have nothing to do with joining this sites. In my opinion, women are enjoying meeting new friends via internet. Guys too! But I think guys have other enjoying things to do than joining on social sites.
