Also note that you can DONATE books to the Austin Public Library (e.g.
at the Hancock branch right around the corner from this location) at any
time. These books, if not used by the library directly, get sold to
help library operations. I find that this is infinitely more satisfying
than trying to sell the books at Half-priced Books, and just as cost
effective for anyone whose time is worth more than $5/hr. Last time I
went to Half-Priced with a couple of boxes of books that they could
easily sell for $300+ (indluding a couple of out-or-print gems that
would be instantly snapped up by collectors), they let me wait around
for over an hour and then offered me $5 for them. I would have actually
made more money donating them for free to the Austin Public Library (no
waiting time), which is what I've done ever since.
