Re: [NNADL] [nlnpt] Re: [nndl] Final comments on tonights NNA meeting

But, Patrick, Barton Springs Rd. has cuts through the median so one can
access the restaurants so, in a strict sense, the original premise of
"name a fast food restaurant that is only accessible from one side of
the street" is still up in the air.  And I disagree about N. Lamar
being accessible from the one side - most of it has the ubiquitous
"chicken lane" for waiting patiently for an opening in traffic.  I'll
give you the fast food joint = way more traffic point though. :-) Kirsten Patrick Goetz wrote:

That Wendy's also has access from Airport, dude. Try again.

For all practical purposes, any fast food joint on N. Lamar is only
accessible from that side of the street; i.e. trying to get across Lamar
is no less, likely more, complicated than making a U-turn at
Chesterfield. I really don't think the divided roadway thing is a good
argument. People who have been involved in city planning for a long
time will recall that the Restaurants along Barton Sprints Road were
originally very opposed to the median that was installed when the
roadway was reconstructed, saying it would hurt their business. No one
has ever complained since, however, suggesting that it actually didn't
make any difference. And look at all the fast food joints that line the
service roads along freeways -- that's the epitome of one-way only
access, isn't it?
