Obama - 44%
McCain - 44%

McCain has finally taken a statistically insignificant lead, and as Rasmussen points out, this is the first time he has done this since Obama secured the nomination.

The reason? Independents…

A week ago today, Obama had a three-percentage point lead and the candidates were even among unaffiliated voters.

Today, McCain leads 52% to 37%...
