Central Texans may notice an unusually dark sky this Fourth of July weekend. Because of a drought across the region, many counties have banned the use and sale of aerial fireworks for this year's Independence Day celebrations.

Austin and Round Rock, as well as Travis and Burnet counties, have had bans on aerial firework for several years.
