KOOP RADIO PRESS RELEASE

KOOP Community Radio presents  "A Neighborly Conversation"  Under Age Drinking on 11/19/08  at Noon

Under Age Drinking costs lives of thousands of youths and others annually.  During the holidays this number spikes.  Excessive drinking and increased auto accidents are the part of what results from Under Age Drinking.  The likelihood of an inebriated youth being injured in an accident or incarcerated for injuring or killing another person, ranks right up there with the impeded brain development and  the damaged organs drinking alchol to excess may cause the youth.

Jessica Son, with the Travis County Underage Drinking Prevention Program, will discuss recent efforts by the County during the October Red Ribbon Week campaign and the County's preparation for the holiday anti-DWI campaign, addressing the high risk time for underage drinking, and the

Joing the conversation will be Joyce Hunt, owner of Mitchie's Gallery in the Lincoln Center and founder of the Mitchie Mitchell Foundation, built on the loss of her son, due to the thoughtless act of a drunken driver.

This program is unfortunately timely, and it may be valuable for each of us to learn how to do what we can to lessen the incidence of and results from Under Age Drinking.

Tune into KOOP 91.7 FM "A Neighborly Conversation, with Moderator, Martha Ward, this
Wednesday November 19, 2008 for this important discussion.
