Hey Cindy!

I'm planning on being there on Sunday. And I was planning to get plants to donate on Saturday.

Also, to let folks know- Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is having their Fall Plant Sale this

weekend and I'm sure we can find the needed plants there. They will also be accepting 4 inch,

1gallon and 5 gallon plastic pots for recycling.  Might be worth the drive.

See ya Sunday.

I have an even better idea... why don't we get together this weekend to rebuild our Bruning Green Butterfly Bed? We can even share a few watermelons while we work.
I was quite disappointed to come back from my weekend to see that we have NO plant donations for the Bruning Green Plant-a-thon. For all the talk about caring about our 'hood, and getting involved, and this being the coolest NA around, why can't I get any volunteers for Bruning Green? It makes me sad :(
So, to reiterate... we need one HUNDRED plants by THIS SUNDAY to plant out the butterfly bed at Bruning Green. The grand planting will take place Sunday, October 14th at 4pm, or come by early to help me set up at 3pm.
Here are the plants we need:
Artemesia
Trailing Lantana (usually purple or white flowers, grows 1'-2' tall)
Gregg's Mistflower
Mexican Oregano
Pink Skullcap
Butterfly weed (tall & twiggy with vivid red & yellow blooms)
Salvia Neuvo Leon (also tall & twiggy with lavender blooms)
If I don't collect a significant number of plants, then the Bruning Green butterfly bed will DISAPPEAR. The weed-grasses are taking over and require serious intervention. So, instead of asking volunteers to do the thankless task of weeding, we will simply ADD plants to the bed which will shade out those grasses next year.
Please consider redirecting all that energy you've expended on the Howard's development issue toward volunteering for the only green space in the North Loop planning area. Which (did I mention?) is suffering, and desperately needs your help!
As always, thank you!!

mmmmmm fresh watermelon!
think about it folks, it's a great idea! i recommend a
nice mini-potluck to go with it ( and some tasty

and hey, if we can't get over our differences, we can
stand at the back fence and have a watermelon seed
