Given the collapse of the housing market, there's a good chance that a
lot of the hot button neighborhood issues will go to the back burner for
a few years while the city scrambles again to make ends meet. Hopefully
we will be able to avoid boondoggles like The Domain or the Mueller
giveaway during this period.
I know Cid Galindo personally and think he will make a most excellent
city council person. He's intelligent, open-minded, articulate,
focused, and has a vision for creating a better community. I'm not so
interested in candidates who define themselves by what they're against.
Anyone can be against this and against that -- let's hear about what
you're for.
Lee Leffingwell and Jennifer Kim have done an excellent job; again,
using intelligence rather than back room deals to make decisions. I will
be doing what I can to make sure they get re-elected -- honesty and
intelligence matter to me, if clearly not to most American voters. It's
the slightly dull, senile "feel good" council people like Gus Garcia and
Betty Dunkerley that have presided over the biggest, most costly
boondoggles in the city's history. Along the lines of folksy dimwits
that Americans love to vote for, here's a nice illustration of what I'm
talking about: Reagan having a cozy meeting with the Taliban from the UT
