Sebastian,
Thank you for this information. I agree, I believe we need to start working
very seriously together to get a good understanding of the neighborhood plan as
it exists today and to alter it (as we are allowed) to refine our vision for our
area.
The woman who runs the cleaner and alteration business in that small strip
center on Lamar, just north of Fashion Floors has moved to 700 N. Lamar. She
told me that the owner of that property told her that the strip center will be
torn down for a condo project. She was quite sure about that.
As for 5117 North Lamar. The FOR SALE sign is still up and the land has been
mowed. Not sure what that means. I know that the owner had intended to put a
small condo with retail below project there. Who knows now what is planned once
it is sold.
As the fellow who built the monster behind my house told me in February of 2006
- "Lady, developers and investors are going to be swarming this neighborhood".
He didn't seem to bright, but I guess he was right. By the way, the monster is
for rent. They complied with the "duplex" building requirement by attaching the
northwest corner of the new structure to a corner of the old, run-down garage -
with - a 2" by 6 or 8" board. Wow! Also, I went into the monster two weeks
ago and I still cannot figure out what it is supposed to be. All I know it is
HUGE and has a very small kitchen at the back of the structure downstairs.
Vigilance and effort on our parts.
Onward.
Mary
