Don't count on consolidation.
NNDL- The moderator sees no neighborhood boundaries. Lost pets and crime
don't. He sees UT as in his backyard, so he likes the broadness of NNDL.
NLNPT- North Loop Neighborhood Planning Team. Is an official entity that
came up with plans for Airport, N Loop, obviously Koenig, and maybe Lamar.
They are a diverse group encompassing several neighborhoods, have invested a
LOT of time on growth and development of adjoining neighborhoods. Don't
count on them backing away from cyberspace.
NNADL- This list was created for JUST the Northfield Neighborhood and as the
official discussion list for Association news. Lamar to Airport, 51st to
Koenig.
Ilovenorthloop- This just appeared last week (or week before). I haven't
been to it and frankly have my time well spent with nnAdl, nndl, and Skyview
(across Koenig where I live).
The last newsletter had NNADL vs NNDL differences and how to join both
Hope this helps--
Beka

Yes, one mailing list would be great.
It seems like there is even a 3rd one... nlnpt? I keep getting bounces.
As for getting involved and volunteering, I would be happy to help with
consolidating lists and transferring recipients to one list only.
(or understand what is the difference between the 2 (or 3?) mailing lists.)
Question to the nnadl and nndl list manager(s)
Does anyone know what the nlnpt list is? Is it different?
If you wish for me to get involved in updating these two mailking lists and
combining them into one, please contact me privately, I will be glad to
volunteer my time with that.

What can we do as a neighborhood to prevent this sort of incident from
happening again? Here are some thoughts.
1.) Have one list serve to discuss neighborhood issues
2.) Attend neighborhood meetings (regularly) (I have personally not)
3.) Publish the neighborhood meeting agenda before the meeting, so that
those who may not be able to attend a meeting can make plans too.
4.) When a zoning or compatibility issue is coming forward try to get the
word out to those most affected by it, IE 300' and 500' notification areas.
I truly do appreciate the work everyone has done on the neighborhood plan
and running the neighborhood meetings. I personally plan on getting more
involved as a result of this process.
Finally, tonight we are voting on whether as a neighborhood to support a
compatibility variance.
Next Monday the BOA will hear this case and we will have another opportunity
to voice or opinion.
Sometime after that planning commission and council will hear the VMU zoning
case.
I look forward to seeing all of you tonight and would urge civility, respect
and an orderly discussion from all. There will be plenty of other
opportunities to embarrass yourself publicly in the coming weeks and months,
potentially in front of a live television audience.
Respectfully.
Stefan

I don't think anyone is suggesting that the bylaws be changed before
tonight's vote, this wouldn't even be possible. The suggestion is to
consider changing them after this has all died down so that the process
won't be as absurd next time.
One thing that no one has thought about yet I reckon is what's going to
happen if no one is willing to take over as president of the NNA now
that Sebastian appears to be fed up and planning not to run again? As I
recall, he was practically begged to take the helm, and once this issue
goes away, it will be back to the humdrum existence of keeping the NNA
working for the good of the neighborhood -- you know, the boring hard
work no one really wants to do. Although I've never had to endure the
human piñata treatment Sebastian has been subjected to the last few
weeks, as someone who's served on a city commission for over 8 years
now, I can attest to the fact that people have a lot of demands and
complaints about the free labor one is providing, but not much interest
in taking on any work themselves. In fact, generally, the level of
complaint is inversely proportional to the interest in working for the
greater good; i.e. the biggest complainers are also the ones least
interested in participating in the process.
As Ms. Means, co-president of the Austin Cab Company once thoughtfully
opined, "I have one word for y'all: UN-GRATEFUL!".
