Hi Neighbors,
To this point, I have intentionally stayed out of this issue--- mostly because I could see both the awful and the wonderful in the now-withdrawn proposal to redevelop Howards'.
But I do care enough about our neighborhood and our larger democracy to say this: Dissent Is A Good Thing. So please do not characterize those with whom you disagree as engaging in "bickering." They are no more "bickerers" for disagreeing with you than you are for disagreeing with them. We each have our own views and beliefs, and we should cherish not only the privilege of expressing them but also the opportunity to listen to those with whom we disagree. And we should recognize that even when we lose battles to design the neighborhood as we personally wish to design it, we're all better off if the outcomes are driven by a democratic process where all courteously shared ideas are welcome.Warmest regards,

Come on people, isn't anyone willing to reach out an olive branch and find
some common ground? The very things you are complaining about HPNA are
happening on this list serve and in this neighborhood. For whatever reason
I feel disengaged by our NA as well, partly because I feel like a dissenting
opinion to the NA is not welcome (particularly on the howards issue) and
partly because I was never at the meetings (my fault entirely). Most of my
education about our neighborhood came from the list serves and neighbors,
which turns out is only like 4% of the whole neighborhood.I truly do want to move forward, I want to be engaged in the neighborhood, I
want to understand other people's opinions/ positions even if I disagree. Is
anyone out there willing to meet me and others halfway? I am still of the
opinion that we need a neighborhood meeting (can be un-official) over coffee
to find some common ground. I will even sponsor a watermelon party.
I am tired of this list serve. As I am sure everyone getting the e-mails who
could careless is as well. Let's take this discussion offline and clear the
air, even if the only outcome is we agree to disagree.Stefan-----Original Message-----

Yes, Patrick, you are right.
