Kriss, Stefan and I spoke at the Planning Committee meeting tonight.

Unfortunately the structure of the meeting was essentially to vote
"for the neighborhood's recommendation" (to establish a given set of
properties as VMU)
or against it.

We all spoke and in the end the committee voted unanimously "for the
neighborhood recommendation." There was not much of an opportunity to
discuss
adding restrictions to or modifying this recommendation as it related
to particular properties.

I'm really hoping that over the next weeks the planning team and other
neighbors can discuss modifying the neighborhood's official
recommendation to
include a request for limited access through the neighborhood and some
suggestions for alleviating parking overflow.

In the end I think that a VMU development can be great along the
Koenig corridor.

But I really wish we had chosen as a neighborhood to opt-in properties/
proposed developments for VMU on a case-by-case basis.
Especially sites as potentially problematic as these on Koenig.

This is the route that many (I think most) neighborhoods seem to have
taken.
I'm trying to figure out what we would loose by opting in on a case-by-
case basis. Or what we gain by designating these all at once.

Can anyone speak to that? What does everyone else think?

Hoping we can have a discussion about this Monday at the NA meeting.
