[nndl] Neighborhood Watch update

Hi all,

A few Block Captains are not members of the Neighborhood Watch Yahoo group, so I'm posting to the NNADL and NNDL to make sure everyone receives this update.  I apologize if this is a duplicate for some of you.

I posted a file to the Yahoo group that lists our current and future Watch sign locations.  There have been a few changes since my last email.  If anyone has feedback on the location of signs 12-23 below, it's not too late to chime in.

Approximate locations of Watch signs installed Jan. 7-9, 2008; paid for by Block Captain and resident donations totaling $540.

1. E. 51st/Caswell (near Airport)
2. E. 53rd/Martin
3. Martin/Bruning
4. North Loop/Ave F
5. W. 51st/Guadalupe (IF fields)
6. North Loop/Huisache
7. Chesterfield/55th
8. Nelray/Guadalupe

13. Ave H/56th
14. Zennia/Lamar
15. Franklin/Guadalupe
16. Leralynn/51st
17. Ave F/51st

21. Martin/51st
22. Eilers/51st
23. Clarkson/51st

I noticed that Hyde Park is also installing new Watch signs.

Someone requested that a Block Captain list be posted on the NNADL/NNDL.  The most up-to-date and user-friendly version is on the Yahoo Group/website at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/northfieldwatch/.  For those who aren't using the Yahoo Group, I've attached a Microsoft Excel file with the latest list of Block Captains.  I hope this helps.  If you can't read the file and don't want to join the Yahoo group, please feel free to email me with questions about Block Captains.

Judging from reports posted to the NNADL/NNDL and APD crime stats, Northfield's burglary rate has dropped significantly over the past couple of months.  Let's hope that trend continues.

Thanks again to everyone who has gotten involved in the Neighborhood Watch.  Preventive measures, increased awareness, reports to APD, and signs as visual deterrents are making a difference.
Michelle
