Hi all,
I have seen hand-written signs in the windows of the old Austin Modern and skateboard shop the last couple of weeks about "domestic/foreign" and "coming soon." Now there is a public notice of an application to sell alcohol from the location.The address is E 306 53 ST, at the intersection of Avenue H and 53rd Street.
How can I find out the zoning of that property? I find the appraisal record but I don't see zoning on that. Is there an online source of information about pending permits? I have been trying to wade through various city and county sites and must admit that I am baffled.Thanks,

Thank you so much for your diligent attention to the neighborhood! Since moving Austin Modern online I have not been able to keep up with area as much as I used to.
We have rented the building to a couple opening a European style Cafe. This will be a full service restaurant and we hope it will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I believe the owners will be selling Beer and Wine only.
The chef and his pastry chef(who also his wife) are recent transplants from Portland Oregon and I believe they plan on moving into the neighborhood as well. Please look forward to his grand opening in Jan or Feb 09!
To dispel any rumors, our building is not going to be a quickie mart, liquor store, coffeehouse, pizza parlor or a bar.
I hope this addition to the neighborhood will help keep North Loop heading in a positive direction =o)
