[nndl] Fw: Early Voting very convenient @ County office on Airport--TUESDAY LAST DAY!

Dear Community Members -
Please take the micro minutes needed to cast your ballot in this run-off.  For RNA and NNA it couldnt be simpler or more convenient - just go to the Travis County office on Airport, 7am to 7pm through Tues. - You can complete your vote within 5 minutes. It is important that our two communities vote. You can count on significant change effecting our neighborhoods over the next couple of years.  We need to show the Council that RNA and NNA are communities that turn out to vote, and who care about Council decisions.

Date: Sunday, June 8, 2008, 5:35 PMThe Laura Morrison - Cid Galindo race for Austin City Council is the only race on the ballot. So it will be a super low-turnout election! That means your vote counts even more strongly, but it also means that the other side wouldn't have to turn out very many votes to beat LauraMorrison.
As president of the Austin Neighborhood Association, she successfully worked to recruitneighborhoods from East Austin and other areas whose voices needed to be heard in planningthe kind of Austin we want for our future. Laura Morrison has won endorsements from the Sierra Club and 26 other local groups.
On the Planning Commission, Cid Galindo had a history of voting in favor of the developers. His father and business partner is a "Bush Pioneer" who raised over $100,000 for George Bush.Cid himself is on record for donating $1,000 to Sen. Phil Gramm during his failed presidential bid.
Cid is president of the Galindo Group, which brags on its website that it is a strong supporterof James Leininger's right-wing extremist Texas Public Policy Foundation "think tank." TPPFis closely connected to the Texas Republican Party. It supports school vouchers, opposes pre-kindergarten programs for public schools and
opposes environmental laws.
But Cid hoped Austinites wouldn't catch on. To disguise his Republican background, Cid cleverly sent out emails to Austin Democrats during early voting in February, where heproclaimed : "This week I cast my ballot in the Democratic Presidential Primary that hascaptured the imagination of our nation and imbued us with a determination to turn the pageand set a new course for our country."
Cid Galindo has recently indulged in using a push-poll to spread phony information about Laura Morrison. ---Anne
