It suddenly occurred to me that you must be talking about Mike Dahmus,
who is really more of a sensible compact urban growth activist than a
bicycle activist. I've known Mike for many years, and, although a
curmudgeon from head to toe, he always has intelligent things to say
about urban planning/growth. Best of all, he never worries whose toes
he's stepping on when stating his opinion on an issue, which is how he
got kicked off the Urban Transportation Commission. Of course, as it
turns out, he was completely correct in his analysis and the dingbat
city council member who fired him completely wrong, but he who signs the
pink slips always wins. I would have enjoyed reading Mike's comments
even if he doesn't live in the neighborhood, and we would likely benefit
from his observations/experience/insight, which is why these discussions
should take place on a subscriber-based list with a neutral moderator
and specifically delineated posting rules. I didn't know Mike was even
aware of the Endeavor proposal until he contacted me yesterday to point
out comments he had written up about it.
