The result being that we end up with all the McDorms in North Loop,
which doesn't seem terribly fair to me. The sad reality is that the
city doesn't really have room or demand for that many Hyde Parks, and in
order to achieve this status, we'd have to be willing to pony up the
kind of cash the HPNA gives to anointed city council candidates every
election cycle -- why do you think they always get what they want?
Additionally, I'm not sure most single family home owners in North Loop
would jump at the opportunity to pay $1000-2000/month in property taxes,
either.
All things considered, I'm glad I live in North Loop rather than Hyde
Park, McDorms or no McDorms.
