[nndl] Can You Spare a Dime? Or an Hour? Or a Van?

Friends,Austin Pets Alive is a new initiative in Austin aiming to reduce animal-shelter killing by hosting off-site adoption events throughout the city.  They rely almost exclusively on volunteers to do so, and have already saved the lives of almost 300 puppies that the pound had planned to kill--- since June alone.  Please consider helping Austin Pets Alive, either by (1) volunteering at an adoption site as described in the forwarded e-mail below; (2) fostering a puppy until it is adopted at an off-site adoption; (3) making a monetary donation; or (4) donating your gas-guzzling van, minivan or SUV to help them transport more animals to off-site adoptions. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Warm regards,
Ryan

Homeless Pet's Life?

Volunteering with Austin Pets
Alive! can be as simple and easy as standing under a tent for two hours at
some of Austin's coolest hang-outs.

Austin Pets Alive!- Who We Are

Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) is a 501(c) 3 (nonprofit) organization
run almost exclusively by dedicated volunteers.  Our mission is to
promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate
the killing of companion animals in Austin through our various programs.
Visit www.austinpetsalive.org for more
details.

What We Have Done So Far

We're already saving many lives, but our mission is
to eliminate the killing of all healthy and sociable pets.  In June and
July of this year alone we have been able to save 277 dogs from
euthanasia.  This is an impressive number but a far cry from the
estimated 13,000 that are killed each year in our shelters. What You Can Do to Help

The
number of lives we save is directly proportionate to the number of volunteers
we have.  We need AT LEAST two people per two hour shift at each of our
adoption locations.  If we don't have enough volunteers, then we have to
cancel the event denying those animals a great opportunity to find their
forever home.

Some of our regular weekend adoption
event locations are:

  • SoCo (Vespiao lot on Sat & Jo's Coffee on Sun)
  • Hike and Bike Trail
  • Austin Farmers Market

The more volunteers
we have, the more events we can schedule.  So visit our website, http://www.austinpetsalive.org/get_involved/volunteer.php
and sign up!  It's fun and incredibly rewarding.

City!
