Police Blotter: Swine Flu Defense, Robbery Foiled

A New Zealand woman offered a novel defense against drunk-driving charges. She said the wine she'd had was more potent because she was getting over swine flu.

The judge rejected the defense. And in Colorado Springs, Colo., two armed robbers were foiled. They walked up to a McDonald's drive-through window — waving a gun and demanding cash.

The employees simply closed the window.



 

Toddler Buys Earthmover In Oline Auction

A New Zealand woman logged onto an online auction looking for some toys. But when Sarah Quinlan went to bed, she forgot to log off.

The Rodney Times reports that as she slept, her three-year-old daughter won an auction. She had bought an earth moving digger for $12,000.
