William Ayers Talks About His “Pal” Barack Obama

Donklephant  Sat, 12/06/2008 - 2:32pm

It was reported after the election ended that the link between Obama and Ayers was first introduced on the campaign trail prematurely by Palin, and then McCain was forced to join in.

But the blogs were talking about them long before that.

William Ayers: '60s Radical, Election Issue, Author

NPR Programs: Morning Edition  Tue, 11/18/2008 - 7:38am

During the presidential election campaign, the Republican ticket tried to make an issue out of Barack Obama's association with William Ayers.

He's the 1960s-era radical that later served on a charitable board with Obama. Ayers wasn't heard from much during the campaign.

Now the nationally known scholar on urban education is on a book tour.

Virginia GOP Chairman Compares Obama To Osama

Donklephant  Sun, 10/12/2008 - 1:56pm

I’ve been posting a lot recently about the various attempts to paint Obama as foreigner, a muslim, of Arab decent, a friend of terrorists and a terrorist himself.

Well, now this is the first (to my knowledge) that explicitly involves a high ranking member of the GOP, at least at the state level.

Can the Left Make the AIP Story Stick?

Donklephant  Tue, 09/02/2008 - 3:21pm

Does Sarah Palin have an affiliation with the Alaska Independence Party? Some AIP members say she does, but the McCain campaign says she has never been a part of that group.

Right now, there appears to be little proof of her affiliation.

Given that Alaska is smaller in population than most major American cities, I’d expect Palin’s path to have crossed with the group from time to time.

For me to believe she’s ever shared or currently shares AIP’s secessionist views, I’ll need some concrete evidence.

GOP 527 Using William Ayers In New Ad

Donklephant  Thu, 08/21/2008 - 3:48pm

A new group calling themselves the American Issues Project is putting $2.8M behind the TV ad in Ohio and Michigan.

Ambinder shares some additional details…

The group calls itself “an organization representing a coalition of activists committed to raising conservative issues both during and after the election.” It includes longtime Republican activists like Ed Failor, Jr. of Iowa.

Failor was a McCain adviser in the state.

Obama is Not Kerry

Donklephant  Fri, 04/18/2008 - 7:26am

Michael Hirsh, writing for Newsweek, thinks Barack Obama is becoming another John Kerry.

Between the questions about Obama’s meager association with William Ayers, a former Weatherman, and the suspicions raised by his lack of a flag lapel pin, the likely nominee is slowly being turned into John Kerry.

He is becoming, in other words, a candidate who may be mostly right about national security but who will lack the Red State street cred to carry his point—and the election.
