As part of an effort to become the first Certified Community Wildlife Habitat in Texas, the City of Austin challenged neighborhoods to encourage homes and businesses to set up Wildlife Habitats on their property.

Elaine Dill presented information on the Neighborhood Habitat Challenge and how to turn your yard into a wildlife habitat.

There is a contest wherein the top three neighborhoods with the most newly certified habitats by Oct. 31, 2008 will be recognized by the city and awarded prizes.

The city needs 700 new certified homes to be the first certified habitat city.
