The world's largest retailer said its fourth-quarter profits rose 22 percent. Sales for U.S. stores, however, fell nearly 2 percent.

The Allandale Neighborhood Executive Committee voted at its July Executive Committee meeting to settle the Wal-Mart lawsuit.

Wal-Mart is setting up an environmental ratings system for all of its products. The retailer's suppliers will be required to detail the environmental costs of making their products.
