One year ago, the Virginia Tech massacre made it clear that if people want to bring guns onto a college campus they will, and until the world's largest metal detector is created and installed over the United States, no one is immune to that possibility.

But just because it is plausible for someone to bring a gun onto a campus, and it is a constitutional right to carry one nearly everywhere else, doesn't mean it should be easy.

Everyone has got their hand in trying to solve the problem of hazing. The 70th Texas Legislature enacted a hazing law in 1987 that subjects organizations or individuals to fines or being charged with criminal offenses.

This obviously has not been a solution to the problem, but it did bring to light emotionally and physically damaging actions which had previously been viewed as tradition.

There's no definitive way to tell how many undocumented people living in the U.S. are paying their taxes and how much, exactly, they are paying, but experts agree that dues are being paid - and will amount to billions of dollars in federal income, Social Security and Medicare taxes this year.

A University of Florida professor is suing a company that sells students' lecture notes because he says the service infringes on his intellectual property rights since he has copyrighted his lectures.

The company, Einstein's Notes, is much like the UT community's Paradigm Books, which has been in operation at 407 W.

On Thursday night, journalist Dahr Jamail spoke to a group of about 300 on campus, sharing his personal accounts of his eight months in Iraq.

A main focus of his talk being the media's coverage of the war, he spent more than 10 minutes criticizing the April 3 Daily Texan story "Young vets recount deployments," which was the second in a series about students who have served or are serving in Iraq.

Although many of the participants in precinct 275's caucus were confused as to how Texas' caucus process works, they were happy to be voting regardless.
