A Conversation With Peter Matthiessen

Peter Matthiessen is one of the most renowned and revered writers of our time. He has won the National Book Award twice - for The Snow Leopard and for Shadow Country.

Peter will be on stage with Victor Emanuel, who will ask him questions about his career, his travels, and the causes that have meant most to him.

Christmas at Winedale is trip into 1800s

Saturday, Dec. 11, noon, Winedale Historical Complex, near Roundtop, Texas. Christmas at Winedale is an annual 19th-century folk-life celebration that gives visitors a chance to experience a recreation of life in the 1800s.

The event includes tours of Winedale's historically significant buildings, decorated as they would have been in the 1800s, as well as stagecoach rides, folk-life demonstrations, tours of the herb garden, music and other entertainment.
