Post Office Cuts Cause Economic, Emotional Blow

Faced with an $8.5 billion loss, the U.S. Postal Service has been cutting back: slashing hours, combining routes and closing offices.

The post office in East Cleveland, Ohio, has lost nearly all of its staff, and the cutback is deeply troubling for this hard-pressed urban community.

Postage Stamp Honors 'Ozzie & Harriet'

The U.S. Postal Service issues a stamp commemorating the early television sitcom The Adventure of Ozzie & Harriet on Tuesday.

The Nelsons were a family in real life. Ozzie, Harriet and their two sons Dave and Ricky played themselves on the show.

Postal Service Faces Gloom Of Economy

The U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday it lost more than $2 billion between April and June. It's on track to be $7 billion dollars in debt by the end of September.

Members of Congress are considering major cuts — including closing hundreds of post offices, and even scaling back delivery from six days a week to five.

I’m not much for labels, and I refuse to say I’m a Democrat, or a Libertarian, and I assume it goes without saying I reject the notion that I am a Republican.

But if you had to pigeon hole me, I’m something of a little “l” libertarian, at least as far as that means I’m socially “liberal” and economically “conservative”.

I don’t like government waste any more than the next guy. Waste, that is, government waste.

The U.S. Postal Service might cut out one day of service a week because it's going bankrupt.

I really wouldn't care .

. . except for Netflix.  It's not like I watch a movie every night, but when I do want to watch the next flick in my queue I don't want to wait four days for it.
