U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan rely on a crucial supply line from the Pakistani port of Karachi. Pakistani truck drivers take enormous risks to ferry fuel and other goods to the troops along the route, where the threat of a Taliban ambush is ever-present.

Bomb-Sniffing Dogs Deploy In Afghanistan

Roadside bombs are the greatest threat facing troops in Afghanistan. Metal detectors can find many of these bombs.

But increasingly, insurgents are using homemade explosives that contain little metal. Now, U.S. Marines are training bomb-sniffing dogs to detect this type of explosive.

McChrystal: Next 18 Months Pivotal In Afghan War

Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal, a former special operations commander, took charge of nearly 90,000 U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan this week to lead the Obama administration's new strategy against the Taliban insurgency.
