‘Tis the season to file for public office, and challengers to curmudgeonly Gerald Daughtery, the lone Republican on the Travis County Commissioners Court, are apparently feeling festive.

Veteran GOP activist Karen Huber is running — as a Democrat. Toll-road opponent Albert Gonzales, a Democrat, is running in his own party.

At City Hall, lackluster Lee Leffingwell is still unchallenged in his 2008 re-election race for the Austin City Council, although RG4N leader Jason Meeker is expected to jump in, maybe as early as this week.
