Despite freezing temperatures, some Austinites chose to face the frosty winds and ride their bycicles for the Annual Jingle Bell Ride through the Trail of Lights.

It's more than dancing snowflakes and make-believe. For some, it’s the day after Thanksgiving. For others it’s their first trip braving the crowded malls.

To some, the winter holiday season doesn’t begin until the Trail of Lights opens. There’s no universally accepted moment; it’s really a personal marker.

For several thousand Austinites, and millions worldwide, the moment that signifies the start to their holiday season is when they see The Nutcracker.
