In Japan, Toyota's President Answers To Criticism

Toyota had a news conference Friday in Japan to discuss quality control issues in its vehicles. The automaker has faced intense pressure in the U.S. from government officials and consumers to prove that it can fix the accelerator problems in eight Toyota models.

Now it's dealing with problems in some of its Prius models.

Toyota admitted Thursday that there are design problems with the 2010 Prius hybrid's antilock braking system.

The model has not been recalled, and this is a separate problem from the sticking gas pedals that prompted the recall of other Toyota models.

Still, it's another blow for a company that has built a reputation for safety and state-of-the-art engineering.
