UTMB gives man's remains to family after 6-year battle

Rolia Whitinger's family will lay him to rest today after a six-year legal battle, an FBI investigation and a failed appeal to the Texas Legislature.

The burial will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio and comes seven years after Whitinger's death.

Everyone has got their hand in trying to solve the problem of hazing. The 70th Texas Legislature enacted a hazing law in 1987 that subjects organizations or individuals to fines or being charged with criminal offenses.

This obviously has not been a solution to the problem, but it did bring to light emotionally and physically damaging actions which had previously been viewed as tradition.
