Film Council Welcomes Video Games to Full Incentive Club In accordance with Governor Perry's announcement at the EA Sports dog and pony show a few weeks ago (that Texas become the Nation's Leader in Video games by some time in the future), The Texas FIlm Commission has raised incentives for developers in time for a new fiscal year.

Of course, there's more than the call to arms of our fearless leader at work here.



 

Austin residents voice concerns over Formula 1 track

The first Formula 1 race in the U.S. is slated to start in 2012 in Austin, but construction on the track and debate over how much taxpayers should put into the project is well under way.

The Austin City Council’s chambers overflowed during their meeting Thursday with people who turned out to give public testimony on a contract that would give race promoters state money.

The council delayed a vote on the proposed contract with Formula One World Championship Limited until next Wednesday.



 

Important New Downtown Development Site

With the large number of downtown building projects under construction, planned, or pending, there are not too many open lots awaiting development.

Now, an important new site is about to hit the market just a block from the prime 6th & Congress intersection.

The Texas General Land Office is selling it’s now-vacant prototypical 50s building, formerly the Texas Comptrollers office, to raise money for the State’s Permanent School Fund.
