For John McCain, the best way to stop another domestic terrorist attack is to prevent al-Qaida from gaining a foothold in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Barack Obama thinks money spent on Iraq would be better spent on domestic infrastructure to make the U.S. stronger if another attack comes.

Reuters - China foiled a bid to cause an air disaster on a passenger jet en route to Beijing and the plane made a safe emergency landing, an official said on Sunday, in what state media called an attempted terrorist attack.



 

Ricin possibly found at Las Vegas motel (AP)

AP - A substance found at a motel may be the deadly toxin ricin, but authorities said Friday they don't believe it was intended for a terrorist attack.

Lab tests on the substance were pending and seven people were taken to hospitals as a precaution.

Calif. Launches Terrorist Drill 'Golden Guardian'

California launched a major homeland security and disaster preparedness exercise called Golden Guardian.

The exercise brings together more than 3,000 emergency responders from state, city and county agencies for the simulated terrorist attack in Anaheim.

The drill used make-believe bombs but was real enough to show first responders what they might be up against someday.
