The Obama administration says it has brought an accused terrorist back to the U.S. for a civilian trial — a move that won't go over well with many in Congress.
The suspect was grabbed by the U.S. military from a ship at sea in the Middle East back in April. He was held aboard a Navy vessel for two months of questioning.

Congress scrambled to renew three controversial provisions of the anti-terror Patriot Act that otherwise would have expired at midnight Thursday.
Minutes before that deadline, President Obama was awakened in France; there he ordered an automated signing into law of the four-year extension.
