If you are interested in the future of Burnet Rd and Anderson Ln, please come out this Thursday, 2/16, for the Sustainable Neighborhoods meeting.
We will be discussing two vital topics:
1. Should we organize to secure $20 million in bond funding for proposed sidewalk, bike lane and safety improvements on Burnet?
2.
Should the City offer more than one definition of a mixed use corridor like Burnet or Anderson?

Update on CNPCT Elections will take place the 3rd Monday in August, 6:30pm, at the Crestview Methodist Church.
The July meeting will take place the 3rd Monday in July. They need at least 12 people to elect officers.
Don will post a link to the neighborhood plan on the CNA website
Ice cream social This will be in place of the July meeting. Tonia received approval from Tony to hold the social on July 17, 11am-1pm.
We also need to talk to Ronny of the IGA beforehand. Kat, Susan and Emily will bring coolers.

Sustainable Neighborhoods of North Central Austin will meet on Tuesday, June 21 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM to discuss strategy and tactics for planting up to one hundred sidewalk trees along our commercial streets throughout North Central Austin.
We need help to do this - ideas, time and fund-raising expertise.

Sustainable Neighborhoods Workshop Tues Nov 16 - Top 10 Things That Make a Place "Family-Friendly"
The Comprehensive Plan is wrapping up feedback on four city "growth scenarios" without any hint as to which would be more family-friendly.
Since this is a critical issue for North Central Austin, we're holding a workshop on Tuesday 11/16 to define a top 10 list of what that means, and submit it to City officials for feedback.

Burnet and N Lamar are the public face of our North Central Austin neighborhoods. They have their gritty charm, but for the most part they are ugly and unsafe for pedestrians and children.
They encourage policymakers and developers to make the kinds of comments we heard during the VMU process: "Anything is better than what you have now." That's not true.
We have to fight that kind of thinking by taking better care of our streets.

City of Austin's Lead Comp Planner to Speak on Planning of Suburban Transit Corridors
Garner Stoll, assistant planning director at the City of Austin and the person heading up the City's Comprehensive Planning effort, will speak to Sustainable Neighborhoods on Tuesday May 18 on how the Comp Planning process can be used to make suburban streets like Burnet, Lamar, Anderson or Airport more family- and pedestrian-friendly.
