I wrote briefly a couple of days ago about the 2010 Census counts for a handful of central Austin census tracts.

 I've now compiled the numbers for 78704.   (For those not from Austin, that's the zip code directly south of Downtown.

 It is a large chunk of Austin's urban core.)

The first public Vertical Mixed Use hearing last Thursday turned into something of a love fest.  And why not?  The two central Austin neighborhoods whose applications were up for vote -- Bouldin Creek and Travis Heights/St.

On Thursday night, City Council began considering the neighborhood opt-in/opt-out applications for vertical mixed-use zoning.

First up: South Manchaca, Bouldin Creek, and Greater South River City (Travis Heights and the St. Edwards area).
