Evolving their sound over the course of three albums, The Horrors latest release, Skying, leans towards an '80s heavy synth pop slant but with a shoegaze injection.
Clear influence nods are made to My Bloody Valentine, the Cramps and more post-punk to create an epic overall sound on this self-produced album that is no longer rooted in dark brooding like their 2007 debut, Strange House.

About a month ago, when most of the unrest in Iran was happening, I wrote about the fact that Nokia Siemens seemed to be helping the Iranian government track down protesters.
Well, it looks like the Iranian people are doing something about it and protesting with their wallets.
Perhaps you should too?
Not so fast…

As we continue to have conversations about reforming the way we cover our health care expenses, especially huge, end of life costs, the following story about euthanasia seems very topical.

Talked about this recently when Biden admitted that there might be need for a second stimulus package at some point, but that the administration wanted to see how the first round would suss out.

I should come as no surprise that many Democrats pray for Sarah Palin to be the candidate in 2012, but many smart GOPers realize how much damage she could do to the brand.
That’s why we’re seeing pieces like this latest rather lengthy Vanity Fair exposé.

Have you noticed how little you’ve heard about Sonia Sotomayor lately?
The reason is pretty simple, there are bigger fish for the Republicans to fry.
Replacing a liberal justice with a liberal justice on the SCOTUS isn’t a huge deal at the end of the day and they have to save their strength to work on health care reform.
Also, just like the rest of us, Republicans are poll watching and all signs don’t favor a fight.

Ryan Avent, the best urban economics blogger around, is moving to Portfolio.com.
This is likely bad news for the rest of us who've enjoyed his thoughts on urban economics for the last couple of years.
Ryan promises to continue writing about urban issues, but given Portfolio's finance slant, I fear he will have less time for urban issues.
