Holder Announces Sept. 11 Trials In U.S.

Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to announce Friday that the U.S. will try Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees in New York.

He also is expected to say that five others, including a suspect in the bombing of the USS Cole, will face a military commission.

Sept. 11 Suspects To Be Tried In U.S.

Five Sept. 11 suspects, including the alleged mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, will be brought to the U.S. to stand trial, the Justice Department will announce Friday.

NPR has learned that Attorney General Eric Holder has decided that the suspects should be tried in the Southern District of New York.
