That’s the word tonight, but the details are thin right now.
From Politico:
Senate Democrats have reached a “broad agreement” on a health reform bill, Majority Leader Harry Reid said Tuesday night — a plan that would replace the public option in the current Senate bill with a new national insurance plan offered by private insurers, and a chance for older Americans to “buy in” to Medicare.

Most polls show a majority of Americans want health care overhaul to include a public option, or government insurance program that competes with private insurers.
So it might seem logical that Senate Democrats would include a public option in their bill. But no decision has been made yet, because it's not clear how many Democrats would back a public option.

The Obama administration wants Congress to expand federal statutes against hate crimes to include protection for gays and women.
The House already passed a bill. The Senate is trying to add it to the big defense policy bill on the floor, despite objections from Republicans.
