Democracy In Thailand On Life Support

In Thailand, the country's democracy appears to be on life support. The embattled prime minister is clinging to office.

That's despite calls for his resignation from political opponents, and indirectly, the military. It has conducted 18 coups, or coup attempts, since Thailand became a constitutional monarchy in 1932.

Us Americans sometimes forget that we aren’t the only nation with a disliked and ineffective government.

Word out of Japan today is that Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda has resigned, apparently because he felt his low approval ratings would impede parliament’s ability to get anything accomplished.

The resignation will likely take effect once the ruling party picks a new leader.

I wonder if we can convince our entire congress to resign over low approval ratings?
