Research In Motion, maker of BlackBerry smartphones, reduces sales expectations for its third fiscal quarter, citing economic troubles in the United States.

Research in Motion said its third quarter sales and earnings will be lower than expected primarily due to “shifts in product launch dates” and a weak economy.

In a statement late Tuesday, RIM said that revenue for the third quarter will be $2.75 billion to $2.78 billion.

Apple’s iPhone snagged J.D. Power’s top customer satisfaction rating in a study of business smartphone users.

In its 2008 Business Wireless Smartphone Customer Satisfaction Study J.D. Power said the iPhone had a customer satisfaction score of 778 on a 1,000 point scale.
