Gates Likely to Stay On at Defense

This had been the rumor for awhile.

Now, it’s apparently close to being official. Robert Gates will stay on as Defense Secretary in Barack Obama’s administration.

Reports are Gates will stay for at least a year.



 

Palin Talks About Her Future

Regardless of what she’s saying now, it seems to be pointing directly at 2012.

36 Governor races are open in 2010.

Can the Republicans save some face by capturing more or holding onto their existing seats?

Republicans not only lost the White House, they also lost seats in the House and Senate. The results focus the debate that started before the election: What is the future of the GOP?

Republican Dick Armey was the House Majority Leader from 1995 to 2002. He tells Renee Montagne that Republicans need to start acting like Republicans.

He says f they act like Democrats, they will continue to lose elections.



 

Democrats Score In Push To Expand Majority

Democrats have increased their effective majority to at least 56 seats in the 100-member Senate. They did not turn over a single Senate seat to Republicans.

All Democratic incumbents on the ballot prevailed.

Embattled Republicans braced for losses but hoped they would be modest ones.

And that’s one of the biggest problems with the McCain campaign. Because he’s a 20th Century candidate trying to run a 21st Century campaign and he just doesn’t know how to do it.

On the other hand, there’s Obama.

And I don’t think anybody disputes that he’s the first 21st Century candidate we’ve seen.
