Downtown Austin lost power overnight when two transformers caught fire Saturday evening.

Austin Energy said the problem was caused by two transformers catching fire around 8:30 p.m.

Saturday.

The area affected was between Congress and Red River and 12th Street and 5th Street. ...

The musical highlight of this holiday weekend happens at Emo’s on Saturday night. Their soon-to-close room on Red River (12/30) will host one of Texas’ finest instrumental ensembles, This Will Destroy You, in a perfectly intimate setting.

Downtown Austin has seen hundreds of bands play fast, burn out, and die young - that's more or less the only credible way to play the Lone Star-soaked variety of garage punk currently being practiced on Red River and at west campus house parties every weekend.

Manikin describe themselves as sounding like “a bad dream in technicolour.” It’s a frightening proposition, a vivid nightmare that’s so realistic you wake up in a cold sweat.
