After months of debating the issues, Americans went to the polls on Tuesday and elected Democrat Barack Obama to serve as the nation's 44th president.

The first batch of states to close their polls include several that could provide early clues as to how Election Day may conclude

Travis County didn't see many long lines at the polls at the first parts of the day. Most voters say they made it in and out in 10 minutes.

The polls are open statewide as Texans cast their ballots in the presidential and general elections.
