Armed man, now at large, hijacks Capital Metro bus

Austin police are looking for a man who hijacked a Capital Metro bus Monday morning and forced the driver to take him to Southwest Austin.

Richard Stresing said a middle-aged Hispanic male boarded the bus at 6:56 a.m. on the corner of Fifth and San Jacinto streets and told the driver he had a knife, demanding she take the bus off course to Southwest Austin.



 

Olsen unanimously suspended for using excessive force in '07

The city's Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission upheld the indefinite suspension of police Sgt. Michael Olsen on Friday.

The City Civil Service Commission decides today if former Austin Police Sgt. Michael Olsen will get his job back.

Police Chief Art Acevedo fired Olsen in November for excessive use of force after shooting 25-year-old Kevin Brown near Chester's Nightclub.

Brown had a gun when he began to flee from police but did not have one when Olsen shot him.
