FFF 6 Saturday Picks

Planning Ahead, Austin  Fri, 11/04/2011 - 3:34pm

Fun Fun Fun Fest has officially begun at Auditorium Shores!

If you can’t make it to the show, don’t worry – Pitchfork is live streaming the entire festival, a first in history.

As you may note from my picks, Saturday is all about the Orange Stage. Go ahead and camp out, because there is awesomeness almost every hour.

Here are a few top picks for Saturday, November 05, 2011:

Merrill Garbus of tUnE-YarDs on Riots, Evolution and Compromise:...

Austinist  Mon, 10/31/2011 - 10:00am

An Interview Merrill Garbus crafts complex and interesting songs, using vocal loops, found sounds and lots of experimenation under the name tUnE-YarDs.

Austinist spoke with the talented musician on all things tUnE-YarDs and beyond, including Occupy Oakland (where she now lives), her one-page website, and evolution of all kinds.

Werewolves, Frilly Collars, and Mountain Serenades: An Interview...

Austinist  Mon, 10/17/2011 - 12:01pm

An Interview with The Joy Formidable's Ritzy Bryan You could hardly accuse The Joy Formidable of being a subtle or slow moving band.

They have been touring like hell over the past three years with only a long EP to their name.

Fun Fun Fun Fest Sunday Reviews: Best Coast and Yelle

Austinist  Tue, 11/09/2010 - 12:33pm

Best Coast dished out a smooth serving of sexy, surfer rock Sunday at Fx3 Fest. Together, the band performed flawlessly to a growing afternoon crowd at the Orange stage.

Their simple, concise indie rock songs and jaunty stage presence made for a pure and pleasurable listening experience.

Most of Best Coast’s songs are about the crazy high and low feelings felt during relationships. The best part about that is the listener walks away feeling okay about being crazy.

Fun Fun Fun Fest 2010: Saturday Kicks Off With A Bang

Austinist  Sat, 11/06/2010 - 2:30pm

Checking in bright and early on Saturday at Fun Fun Fun Fest 2010! Black Congress woke up the Black Stage with interesting electronic back beats overlapped by dueling rhythm guitars and heavily delayed screaming vocals.

As Waterloo Park starts to fill, Jeff the Brotherhood took the Orange Stage.

From Nashville, TN, both guys are ex-Be Your Own Pet members, with a stripped down '70s garage rock sound to get the day rolling.

The duo is playing Mohawk's afterparty tonight around 11pm - free for folks with FFFfest wristbands!
