Curt Bonk (Indiana University) offers an intriguing look at ten technology trends which he called educational openers.

When combined, the first letter of each opener spells the acronym "WE-ALL-LEARN." This model helps make sense of the role of various technologies in open education, including open courseware, open-source software, open-access journals, open educational resources and open information communities.



 

Help Firefox set a Guinness World Record

photo / TJ-Blog   Today Mozilla, the open-source software guru, is releasing Firefox 3 at 11am CDT. This isn’t your typical software update — Firefox users tend to be rabid about their love of the browser, and Firefox has been promoting the release of Firefox 3 for several weeks, and its beta has been available for months.

Not only do they have a huge red banner on their website proclaiming “Download Day 2008,” they’re trying to set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours.
