The Beijing Olympic Games have ended in a blaze of fireworks, with the largest share of gold medals going to the host country.

Chinese citizens and state media said that their success in holding the games for the first time would make China a more confident and open country.

New Facebook Friend: England's Ivy Bean, Age 102

Facebook has a new special member. Ivy Bean, 102, joined after she heard about a 97-year-old member in France.

Bean uses Facebook to post news and video about herself and her nursing home in England. She recently competed in her home's "Over 75 Olympic Games" — and won a gold medal.
