Lawmakers in Washington are sharpening their focus on the oil markets. They're having a hearing Monday to discuss how much of the run-up in oil prices is due to financial speculation.

Speculative bets roil oil markets

There's no question about it, a new breed of speculator is pouring money into the oil market and helping drive prices to record levels.

What's less certain is if this new money is essential to a healthy market.
