Lawmakers Mixed On Bush's Call To Expand Drilling

At Tuesday's White House news conference, President Bush urged Congress to lift its ban on offshore oil drilling.

Democratic leaders in Congress reacted coolly to the president's demand, but seemed to leave a door open to putting the issue to a vote.

Last month it was McCain/Obama, 51/41, so there’s not much change, and no doubt it’s a sizable lead, but I’ll say again that this is a state Bush won by 17 points, so just the simple fact that Obama is nearly within single digits is somewhat of a surprise.

McCain - 43%

McCain lost another point today, so that’s two days in a row he’s lost a single point and he’s getting dangerously close to dipping below 43, which he hasn’t done yet in this season.
