The two clashed over the economic crisis, taxes, health care, energy and foreign policy.

Surveys suggest that Democrat Barack Obama is approaching the 270 Electoral College votes needed for victory.

The two candidates will meet Tuesday in Nashville, Tenn., for a town hall-style debate.

I’d be in favor of something along these following lines, although I’d like to see more open format town halls.

The Commission on Presidential Debates proposed the less formal, more conversational talk-show format for two of three 90-minute debates it’s seeking this fall.

The third debate would be a town hall-style session in which the candidates would be free to get up from high stools and walk around the stage.
